FAQ

What age must I be to join the ACF?
You must be between 12 and 18 when joining. We would say that you might not get the full benefit of the ACF if you join after 16, as it takes up to two years for the initial training

When are your parade nights?
We parade on most Tuesday and Thursdays, 7.30pm - 9.30pm. We would prefer if you contacted us in advance so that we can confirm we are open on that night.

Do I ever have to join the Army?
Definitely Not! If that is what you want to do when you are old enough, we will support you but only a small percentage of Cadets choose to enter the regular Army. You may also like to consider the TA once you are over 18, but it is your choice!

Is the ACF a safe place for my children?
All ACF instructors undergo Criminal Records Bureau checks, much like teachers. We also have security checks by the MOD. All cadet training is covered by an extensive set of rules and regulations (”The Red Book”) which is designed to ensure the safety of your child. On your child’s first visit you are welcome to come along and discuss this with us in person.
