The Army Cadet Force

The Army Cadet Force is a Youth Organisation funded by the Ministry of Defence. It is not affiliated directly to the Army although some Cadet units maintain close associations and receive help and assistance from their local TA or Regular Army units.

The ACF is also not a recruitment exercise, there will be no pressure to join the Army later. Some Cadets do chose to join the Army of their own free-will when they are 18 and we fully support them in that aim, but it is not why the Army Cadet Force exists.

The ACF teaches some of the skills needed by a Soldier, such as Drill, Turnout, Shooting, Map Reading, Self Reliance and more, but adds other subjects such as Adventurous Training, Community Work, First Aid and other fun activities that are more relevant to the younger adult.

ACF Website

The Army Cadet Force operates a website, www.armycadets.com, which provides full details of the range of activities and how to find out more information. If you’re not from ourarea (Victoria, London, SW1), you can find details of your local ACF Detachment here. It’s highly worth visiting as it’s full of information useful to a Cadet and comes complete with a cool game.
