If you are, you are probably just the kind of person we are looking for!The first step if you want to join us, is to give us a ring or email us using the details on this page, just to check when we are open. Generally we are open every Tuesday and Thursday night between 7:30pm and 9:30pm, but this does changes over holidays and when we are away on Camp, so it’s always best to check.
On your first visit, it would be a good idea to bring a parent, guardian or other adult with you, just so that we can have a chat to them and explain to you both what the Army Cadets is all about. You will not be asked to sign anything, pay anything or make any kind of commitment until you have been coming regularly for a few weeks. We will want emergency contact details for your family just in case, but if you decide to leave we will destroy these.
After you have been attending for a few weeks, we will give you an AF529 “Purple Form” to fill in. This contains details of your Parents Address, Doctor, Medical History - it’s nothing scary, you would have to fill in the same information for a school trip or something similar. We will measure you for a Uniform and send off your paperwork to be put onto the Army Cadets enrollment system. Within a few weeks you will get some nice new clothes!
If at any time you decide you don’t want to continue in the ACF, just talk to us and we’ll ask you for any uniform we’ve given you back and destroy your contact details. We’ll probably be sorry to see you go, but it is always your choice whether you want to be here or not.
